Exciting news for fans of genre entertainment, The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror has announced that the Saturn Awards are back!

According to Deadline, the event will take place on Oct. 26 at the L.A. Marriott Burbank Hotel. By all accounts, it is definitely going to be a star-studded evening.

Of course, who better to host a gala of this caliber than a thespian who is a bona fide icon of horror, witty and charming to boot? If you guessed Bruce Campbell, you would be correct. A former Saturn Award winner, his presence is guaranteed to entertain and keep the affair lively.

This year, the show will be dedicated to the legendary Robert Forster who over the course of his career acted in many films and television series geared toward science fiction and the offbeat such as Twin Peaks: The Return, Intruders, Heroes and Supernova. In addition to Mr. Forster, the ceremony will also pay homage to all of the industry professionals that lost their lives during the pandemic.

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror also named the recipients of their Special Awards categories:

  • The Visionary Award: Mike Flanagan (Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor)
  • The Dan Curtis Legacy Award: Eric Wallace (The Flash
  • Life Career Award: Michael Gruskoff (Young Frankenstein
  • Spotlight Award: Amazon’s The Expanse
  • Special Achievement Award: David Kirschner (Chucky
  • The Producers Showcase Award: Victoria Alonso (Marvel Studios)

For a complete list of regular award nominees, you can visit the Saturn Awards homepage at the following link. Apparently, there will be more “surprises in the upcoming days/weeks” according to Academy President Robert Holguin and Saturn producers, Brad and Kevin Marcus.

Hopefully, this night to remember will be available on a live stream. Stay tuned for further information…
