Eat your heart out, pumpkin spice lovers. Halloween Wars, the most spooktacular of all Halloween food competitions, is back for a brand-new season on Food Network and discovery+ with a lineup that sounds frightfully delicious.

Zak Bagans, world-renowned paranormal investigator and star of the hit discovery+ show Ghost Adventures, bring his supernatural prowess to the table as the haunted host with the most.

He’s joined by a terrifying trio of judges — returning favorite and award-winning cake decorator Shinmin Li, and familiar faces to Food Network fans everywhere, chefs Aarti Sequeira and Eddie Jackson.

Each week Zak shares some of his scariest ghostly encounters, adding a deeper, richer layer to a show that’s already drenched in Halloween lore. These chilling tales set the tone for the weekly challenges, during which eight teams of expert cake and sugar artists compete to create the spookiest and tastiest cakes the land of the living has ever seen. One by one, each team gets eliminated until only one remains. The last team standing takes home the grand prize of $25,000 and bragging rights.

Courtney White, President of the Food Network had this to say about adding everyone’s favorite ghost hunter to this year’s scary themed production:

“Viewers love our Halloween lineup, an over-the-top, multi-week event full of frights, delights, thrilling competitions and spectacularly spooky edible themed creations. Each year we look to outdo ourselves and with Zak Bagans bringing inspiration to the scariest season of Halloween Wars yet…Food Network delivers all the Halloween tricks and treats and more.”

Fans of the terrifying culinary series will want to check out the special Road to Halloween Wars (which premieres on Sunday, September 19th at 8pm ET/PT on the Food Network) so they can get an inside look into how contestants for the popular show are chosen.

Halloween Wars premieres on Sunday, September 19th at 9pm ET/PM on Food Network and Discovery+.
